About the school

Have you dreamed of being on stage and singing and dancing? At NSKI, we use the well-known Method Acting technique to transform songs and performances into personal, natural and engaging performances.

NSKI University College is the only school in Scandinavia that uses the world-renowned acting technique Method Acting. It developed through a long series of studies that began with Konstantin Stanislavski in Russia, and continued at The Actor Studio in New York, by legends such as Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler and Sanford Meisner. The technique is based on using one's own experiences and experiences to understand the characters.

As a musical theater student at NSKI, you get in-depth acting classes, alongside singing and dancing lessons where you learn to come forward from an emotional and honest point of view. This helps to create natural, gripping performances with interesting characters.

As a student

Our focus is on training soloists who can use acting, song and dance to convey a story. That is why NSKI has a lot of focus on acting, where the musical theater students work together with the acting students. In this way they gain experience in text analysis, sensory work and improvisation. In addition, the students get plenty of singing lessons, both individually and in groups, as well as dance and movement. This is done with close follow-up from our skilled teachers, so that each student feels supported and gets to develop in the best possible way.

With NSKI's unique educational offers, students get the opportunity to collaborate across classes. Not only do they get instruction in acting, but they also get the chance to work with the directing students in stage work. This, in combination with classes in industry knowledge and audition training, prepares students to work well with others and equips them to tackle the industry.

Unique experiences

NSKI University College offers several unique experiences.

Every autumn, the musical theater students are visited by David Brunetti, a singing instructor for famous actors and singers on Broadway, and author of the textbook Acting Songs. His workshop focuses on how to convey real lived life through song.

As a musical theater student at NSKI, you get the opportunity to do an exchange at South East Missouri State University. There they get to study on campus in the USA and work on big stages in a new and exciting environment.

In addition, we offer the opportunity to travel to New York, where students gain experience with the industry outside of Norway as well. Students get to work with Broadway directors, see performances, as well as set up scenes and monologues in collaboration with an Off-Broadway theater group.

Everyday life

As a music student, you mainly work from 09:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday. In the morning we work with subjects such as individual singing, dancing, sensory work and improvisation. In the afternoon, the students work on scenic projects, ensemble singing, workshops, and mass training in dance, and more. This trains the students to become confident in their knowledge and confident on stage.
