NSKI’s Bachelor's program in Acting is designed to educate professional actors with a primary focus on film acting while also preparing students for stage productions and theatrical projects.
Throughout the three-year program, students gain extensive knowledge and experience in Method Acting. You will work with improvisation, monologues, dialogues, and scenes—both for film and stage.
NSKI College is the only higher education institution in Northern Europe where Method Acting forms the foundation of a significant part of the curriculum. Method Acting develops the technical, physical, and emotional aspects of acting, with a strong emphasis on refining the actor’s entire instrument.
What makes the acting program at NSKI College unique is the collaboration across disciplines. As an acting student you will have the opportunity to work together with the school’s Directing and Screenwriting/Playwriting program students in a wide range of theater and film projects.
We also combine theoretical and practical subjects, giving acting students a deeper understanding of the actor’s craft. This enables them to fully explore their artistic potential while working closely with directors and other industry professionals.
The program is interdisciplinary and rooted in the American acting method Method Acting, developed in New York during the 1930s and 1940s by pioneers such as Lee Strasberg, Sanford Meisner, and Stella Adler. This technique is based on Konstantin Stanislavski’s system.
Daily Schedule
The study schedule is typically divided into two parts:
Most subjects are taught continuously throughout the three-year program.
Examples of Courses:
Every spring, second-year students from the Acting, Musical Theater, and Directing programs travel to the world’s cultural capital for an immersive project with The Cry Havoc Company, one of New York’s oldest and most established Off-Broadway theater groups.
In collaboration with industry professionals from the Broadway theater scene and the US film /TV industry - students have the opportunity to rehearse and perform film, theater and musical theater scenes.
Method Acting is the foundation for all acting work in the musical theatre program at NSKI College. Our musical theatre education places particular emphasis on singing and acting, and it is important to have a solid acting foundation in order to convey performances that are both believable and vibrant. Method Acting is highly regarded and used by some of the most well-known current and former actors in the world, such as Tom Hanks, Natalie Portman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ashton Kutcher, Kate Winslet, Jim Carrey, Hillary Swank, Brad Pitt, Robert De Niro, Heath Ledger, and Marlon Brando.
In short, Method Acting is a unique acting technique developed from Konstantin Stanislavski's system and provides a solid craft for the technical, physical, and emotional aspects of acting. It emphasizes the development of the entire actor’s instrument, including their body, voice, life experiences, and impulses. This allows the actor to create characters, roles, and situations that feel so real that the audience believes in them, relates to them, and is moved by them.
